The One Foundation is a 509 (a) (2) public charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Donations made to the One Foundation are tax deductible under IRC Section 501 (c) (3). The foundation was formed in November of 2017 by family and friends to honor the memory of Sharon Caldwell-Anderson, a breast cancer advocate who passed on May 28, 2014 due to complications with stage 4 breast cancer.
Sharon was recognized educator in Columbia, SC, the Bronx, NY and Charlotte, NC. Sharon dedicated her life to teaching "throw away students" which was a term she used to identify students who were presumed unteachable to others in the school system and community. She did this while battling breast cancer for over 14 years.
Sharon was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 31. At the age of 36, her 5 year survival mark, Sharon was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. At the age of 45, the cancer metastasized throughout her body and she was diagnosed terminal. Despite her diagnosis, Sharon continued to work as a teacher until she passed on May 28, 2014.
The goal of the One Foundation is to continue Sharon's legacy: One Life, One Chance, One Moment to make a difference in the world by bringing attention to breast cancer awareness to promote the following:
